LGBTQIA+ Mental Health & Safe Spaces
Creating spaces where diverse identities feel seen and supported

Living abroad as an LGBTQIA+ person can amplify emotional challenges — from isolation and invisibility to navigating cultural differences in how queerness is seen, celebrated, or denied. This workshop offers a safer, affirming space to share experiences, build emotional tools, and reflect on what queer well-being means across cultural contexts. We begin by co-creating group agreements that ensure respectful, brave participation.

Participants are invited to explore personal stories around identity and community through creative and embodied methods — including story circles, intersectionality mapping, and group rituals. We also incorporate a playful, reflective exercise where we outline bodies on large paper and fill them with cultural messages about gender identity, opening up conversation about social expectations, performativity, and the freedom to define ourselves. Humor and care play key roles, allowing participants to both critique and heal from normative pressures.
