Who Am I Here? Belonging, Identity & Culture Shock in the Netherlands
For international students and newcomers navigating emotional and cultural transitions.
Migration often triggers profound shifts in identity. Who we were in our home country may not match who we are perceived to be here. This workshop helps participants reflect on the emotional journey of relocation through the lens of cultural values, identity formation, and social connection. From the "honeymoon" phase to the deep frustrations of adaptation, participants are invited to place themselves on a visual map of the migration journey.

Through art-based expression, dialogue, and practical suggestions for building connection, participants leave with new ways to articulate their experience — and tools to foster belonging in an often-challenging environment. We intend to create a welcoming space that acknowledges the many ways students experience migration, offering room for their voices, sensations, and challenges to be heard.
